"A Roc or Rukh (from Persian رخ rokh) is an enormous mythical bird of prey, often white, reputed to have been able to carry off and eat elephants."
I wanted to do an illustration from mythology, and I thought this one sounded quite interesting The fire was a last minute thing, maybe it looks stupid. I just wanted some more colour in the picture. I don't really think I got the light coming through the wings to look right either. For painting the birds I was inspired by Raymond Swanland [link]
The levels in the picture are way off but I don't really know how to fix it now.
If I can suggest you something...
I would add a bit more of the shadow on the Rocs.
Light is coming from behind, so the right and middle one should be more dark
But that's just my thought..
It's still brilliant and I can't not Fav it
I feels so bad for those sailors... Not only do they have to deal with waves that are taller than their ships, but they have to deal with giant birds, too?
Ah, but it makes for a wonderful scene! Bravo

Wow, great stuff! Your digital painting keeps getting better and better! I think the fire is a nice touch, without it, the mood of the picture would've been to cold. The waves and rain are excellent! I'd love to see a little bit of color in the main Roc's eyes.

Nice painting!
I suggest a little warm reflected light on the nearest roc, and add a little more color to all the birds to distinquish them more from the background.
Im a professional rainbow collector so I thought I'd share some of my finds from my favourite folder = R A I N B O W S A must see for all colour loving beings
